Who likes to wait - no one. We have created a comfortable waiting room with a nice TV, water-feature, and good reading. The problem is, we don't want you to use it. Now if you are waiting for someone that needs a ride, that is one thing. If you are waiting for me or one of our hygienists, that is a problem. We don't want you to wait. We never have, and never will.
I accompanied my wife to a doctors appointment earlier this summer. We were actually seen right on time. The problem is that I didn't think we would be seen on time. I blocked out 3 hours of my schedule for a 20 minute appointment. I was not sure of how long things would take because of past experience.
At Modern Dental, you will not have to wait. We schedule patients so that we have enough time to take care of them and are ready for the next appointment. We are not perfect, emergencies arise, but we are consistently on time. In fact, we are...

We have been providing orthodontics as long as we have been in business. Orthodontics are an amazing way to change your smile as well as to stabilize your bite and jaw joint. Many people think of braces with kids. While this is definitetly the largest segment of our patients in braces, we are seeing more and more adults choosing this option. Options exist for fixing minor crowding with active retainers to full banded orthodontics. A lot ohas changed over the last decade with treatment time decreasing due to new materials and methods. Stop in for a free consultation and if we aren't your first consult, we're sure we will be your last.

When you are happy with your smile and are just looking to brighten your existing teeth, bleaching is a great option. We bleach our own teeth and are very comfortable with this procedure. We offer two types of bleaching at our office. The most common treatment is at home whitening. We will custom fit your teeth to professional bleaching trays and supply you with bleaching syringes. Easily apply the bleach and leave the trays in for an hour or two, after a couple of weeks your teeth will be noticeable brighter. The second option is in office laser bleaching. The bleach we us is far stronger than the at home version. The process is accelerated with the energy from a laser. Your gums will be protected as the bleach is applied. You may watch your favorite movie as the procedure takes place in less than two hours. Custom fit trays are included with laser bleaching enabling you to touch up your smile whenever you want to.

With veneers we are able to offer an incredible change in as little as two visits. With veneers, we are able to change the shape, color, spacing, and angle of your smile. People often ask what exactly is a veneer? The answer is really fairly simple. A veneer is a translucent, pearly, porcelain facing that is custom made to fit each individual tooth. By analyzing your smile and your desires, we can design a smile that will be beautiful and bright. Newer materials allow us to create a more lifelike smile than was possible several years ago. My wife had direct composite veneers years ago and the teeth had a dead look to them. As soon as my aesthetic training was complete, I had a patient ready and willing for a new smile. Her smile is much brighter and more natural than before.

Missing a tooth? In the past, a bridge was often the option of choice. This is no longer the case. Implants have been in use for many years. With each year, the possibilities are improving and expanding. Implants are now the first choice when replacing a missing tooth. Implants are strong, stable, and most importantly they maintain the ridge of bone surrounding the implant and your natural teeth. Maintaining the bone is not only better esthetically, it is also better for the health of your teeth. Implants arent always an option, but many times they are. In our experience, patients like their bridges, and love their dental implants.

No one wants to talk about these procedures but they are a fact of life and when you need one, you need one. Both of these procedures are common in our practice. When a tooth is too broken down and the only option is removing the tooth, we can take care of it for you. Nitrous oxide, profound anesthesia, and something to watch on television help the procedure go by. We also extract many wisdom teeth when the need arises. Root canals are performed when the inside of the tooth becomes sick or infected. We simply remove the affected tissue, disinfect the inside of the tooth, and fill the canals. The tooth will pretty much feel the same as it did before. Although the tooth is no longer vital on the inside, the outside of the tooth is still alive and well. In our opinion root canals get a bad rap. Were not saying that it is something to look forward to, but most patients really do well. We think the worst part is the time in the chair and the added expense.

Fillings are made to fill holes in a tooth. When a tooth is broken down or a filling starts to make up most of the tooth, it is time for a crown. A crown is more effective because it is stronger and it encloses the tooth ensuring that the force of biting is equally distributed to the root. Crowns are made of gold, gold and porcelain, zirconia and porcelain, or straight porcelain. We tend to stay away from metal but in certain circumstances, it is the best choice. Crowns are lifelike and strong and generally last much longer than fillings.

If you keep up on health news at all, you are sure to have heard of the link between periodontal disease and other diseases of the body. The reports seem to focus on heart health and the birth weights of babies. These areas are of course in addition to the health of the gums and bone supporting the tooth. If the gums arent healthy, do the teeth matter? On top of all of that, teeth just feel better and breath is fresher, with a clean healthy mouth.

Who really likes going to the dentist? Okay, maybe there are a few of you out there, however, we know that you are the exception. When you do need to be here, we like to make you as comfortable as possible. We are friendly, conscientious, and we can even say we like what we do. To help things go smoothly, we have found the best topical anesthetic on the market to decrease the feeling of the stick. We also warm the anesthetic to body temperature to eliminate the sting. Add a little nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and a favorite T.V. show or movie, and going to the dentist is almost bearable.

The most common procedures we perform are fillings. Most people have had at least one. Although the silver mercury fillings are still in use and are a viable treatment option, we decided to only provide the materials we feel are the best, and the best looking. Tooth colored composite is the only type of restoration we provide along with porcelain for crowns, veneers, and onlays.
